Dapitan : The Road to the Shrine City

Like anybody else, when we hear the Word " Dapitan" only one name crosses our mind. Jose Rizal right? But, surely this place is more than just everything about Rizal and how he left a mark in this Shrine City.

Every year, everyone in the company im connected with, looks forward to its annual SUMMER OUTING. And for this year Dapitan City in Zamboanga Del Norte is the place to be.

We left Bacolod City around past 12:00 Midnight of Thursday and the landtrip to Dumaguete City which is our gateway to Dapitan took us almost 5 hours. Everybody was dead tired, for hours before the trip we still reported for work and left our workplace around 9pm that day.

Upon reaching Dumaguete City, others took a few minutes of rest while Hanna and I bought tickets for our Dumaguete - Dapitan route ticket via Cokaliong Lines. Air Con Accomodation was valued at 400 while Non Aircon was at 320. Good thing we didnt settle for the Non Aircon coz for sure it would be uncomfortable for everyone. The trip will approximately be 4 to 5 hours according to the ticket agent.

Since im not fond of riding boats and i dont wanna feel the waves. There is only one solution.... SLEEP

Slept the whole time. It was a good idea though. I got plenty of rest!

After hours of (sleeping) travel we finally arrived at the port of Dapitan. Everyone was excited since for some, this will be their first time to step foot in Mindanao.

Excited Much.
Dapitan, Finally! was everyone's reaction upon dis embarking from the boat. We were then greeted by our Tour Guide Dansel From Fantasyland Travel and Tours. Though we have to admit, the welcome leis really made us feel like tourist. haha
Feeling Turistas.

Since it was around noon when we arrived, we then had our lunch at a place called " Kinilaw Ug Inihaw Fishpond Restaurant". But there is a twist. Before reaching the Resto, one must ride first a " WATER TAXI" ahuh! you've heard it right. Only in Dapitan huh?

The Hungry Eaters at Water Taxi Terminal
The Water Taxi.
Seafood Lunch

Its eating time! but before eating wash your hands first. Though we really wanted to eat, you cant resist to try washing your hands in their uber unique washing area. Be sure to tag  someone along  to help you. You'll understand why.
HOLY WEEK: Kung ang apostles may washing of the feet. Kami may washing of the hands din.

After our sumptuous lunch. Its now time for Dakak, our official residence during our stay in Dapitan.

Which I will be posting in a seperate post.
