Guimaras Island : Mangoes and More

Last Week ( May 12 and 13,2012) , I had an amazing weekend getaway to the home of the world's sweetest mangoes. Guimaras - an island part of the Visayas region and is physically separated from Iloilo by a narrow watercourse. Some call it as the " mango country" for it is home of  more than 8,000 hectares of mango orchards owned by individual growers. It's unspoiled beauty is something to look forward to.

We took the first trip of Supercat to Iloilo for it's the fastest route to the province. Upon arriving in Iloilo, Guimaras Island is only a 10 - 15 minute boat ride. The fare is at 14 per head during daytime and 20 starting 6pm.

We stayed at " LA PUERTA AL PARAISO" meaning " the door to paradise" - located approximately 30 kilometers from Jordan Wharf. The road going to the resort is unpaved in some areas that's why it took us almost an hour of roadtrip before we reached our destination.

And as what they say, a picture paints a thousand words.

So let these pictures speak for themselves....

Need I say more?
